big portions for both pad thai and laksa. favorite was definitely the pad thai, had just the right amount of seasoning. the chicken and tofu in it were really good too! laksa noodles had good broth, just not my favorite. dumplings were 10/10 and the thai tea is good too!

I am not given to five star reviews but Rasa Malaysia deserves it. My daughter and I ordered the sampler app dish, Chinese Yu Taio and Char Kway Teow, an outstanding noodle dish. All of the dishes were recommended by our waiter as we were unfamiliar with Malaysian food. There certainly are favorite Chinese and Thai dishes on the menu, but we specifically wanted to try a more Malaysian flavor profile. The restaurant is open and inviting, close to free parking, and a true gem.

If great restaurants had superhero origin stories, Rasa Malaysia would deserve its own movie. For a year and a half, I've been around Chapel Hill regularly, and somehow nobody ever mentioned this place to me. Honestly, I feel a little cheated. Hidden at the end of a shopping plaza, Rasa Malaysia is the definition of a hidden gem. Even on a Sunday afternoon, there were plenty of customers, and the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the smell of smoky, savory, and deeply aromatic food. The aroma alone had me questioning every restaurant recommendation I've received over the past eighteen months. Fortunately, one of my dining companions has an almost supernatural talent for ordering food. We trusted her judgment completely, and it paid off. I wasn't familiar with many of the dishes we ordered, but I loved almost everything that came to the table. The flavors were bold, balanced, and layered. The use of coconut milk was especially impressive; instead of tasting like someone simply opened a can and poured it into a pot, the dishes had a depth and complexity that showed real technique and care. Before this meal, I thought I knew Malaysian food from my visits to Penang in Boston

We dined in last night and had a wonderful experience. Don't take the word wonderful lightly... the service was excellent and the food was magnificent! Portions were more than ample (in most cases too big to consume in one sitting) and their flavors were truly unique! To start, the mango beef salad was so good, I almost picked up the dish and drank the remaining vinegrette. For dinner, while the Roast Duck Mee Soup was good, the Mee Goreng and the Lemon Fish (swai) were truly spectacular!! The flavors in these dishes made our meal memorable. We're moving out of the area to South Raleigh soon and will drive all the way back here just for those dishes! (But we'll struggle as we must try more dishes next time.) Finally, the young lady who served us (sorry, we didn't get her name) was delightful. Her table service skills and lovely personality upped the experience and is yet another reason for us to come back. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Really nice atmosphere, serving authentic Malaysian food and other classic asian favorites. Serving sizes are generous. We’ve visited many times and always leave satisfied.
